Winner of Regional and International art awards, she has exhibited her oils and mixed media throughout the West Coast, Nevada, and Hawaii. Mayfield’s paintings are included in many private and corporate collections.

Patricia Mayfield was born in Seattle, Washington. Encouraged at an early age in art, she began doing portraits. At 13, her Presidential Portraits won first place in California for two consecutive years in a regional contest on patriotic themes.

Mayfield studied in the mid 70’s with Arizona Highway’s feature artist, Matt Madsen. While studying with Madsen, she learned to capture the delicate beauty and moods of various landscapes; developing a realistic style with soft subtle displays of light and color.

Mayfield has been an art teacher and a medical illustrator for Loma Linda University School of Health. She is now enjoying painting and living in Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest. She is writing children’s books, traveling, and doing research along with experimenting with various media and techniques to best capture the essence of her subject.

Passionate with color in both soft and bold tones, she portrays feeling and the mood of the moment in her work.

“Art is an experience and produces different responses in each one of us. Art can also be communication about our feelings. The object of my art is to uplift and balance--to bring out the inner person. Whether that is achieved in fun decorative art, peaceful scenes, dramatic displays of light and color; or symbolic and Honorary Portraits and Memorial Paintings, I strive to share something special and generate a spontaneous response inside the person who sees my work.”
